Bit graphic, but do you deal with the bodies and if you do, do you get used to seeing them?

Asked by Ethan4598 almost 6 years ago

Most are able to build an emotional wall and can concentrate on the tasks at hand. But there are some that can only do it for so long and have to retire and unfortunately there are so who take their own lives. I know of at least 5 co workers who have killed themselves. I have had a few calls that are imbedded in my head but can keep them back in the cave of my mind.

I'm researching training for a book. What is the name and are there any training resources/video for the technique of two attack lines advancing with a center person keeping tempo for both lines? Thanks.

I forget the the name but look under flammable liquid firefighting techniques,

Hello. My question to you is is being a firefighter a lifestyle or a career? Meaning do you have to pretty much center your entire life around being a firefighter?

Asked by Mike over 4 years ago

Considering you spend 1/3 of your life during your career it is difinately a lifestyle. After 35 yrs and 12 more to go it develops your life. so between calls, classes there isn’t alot to do otherwise. But with so many kids today it seems to me that they think of it as just a job and there is not alot of dedication to the career. going to paramedic school not has just enveloped my life for the last 8 months.

Do you ever stop and help stranded motorists like the police sometimes do?

Have you ever asked someone a question on here? If so do you mind saying what it was?

I havent had a need to do that. But I have answered a question with a question but generally dont get a reply.

Have you ever took valuables out of a burning building before? I would assume objects isn’t a top priority even if it’s expensive or important but have you ever done it?

Asked by Fanny over 5 years ago

Yes, during overhaul or if we have time to get things out but it depends on staffing. I currently operate a 1 man Engine and I cover approx 100 sq miles by myself with back up 20 miles away. So with that said my time is very limited to do alot of things, lol.

I had a horrible experience with a garden fire which started when I was asleep. Ended up fine but I keep thinking about what would have happened if it had got into the roof. My roof is insulated with super glass but would this prevent a blaze?

Asked by CD almost 5 years ago

Not quite sure what super glass is?
