The other half consists of gynecologic care, which ranges from routine annual check-ups to contraception and menopause. I perform many surgeries, including laparoscopies and hysterectomies.

Can a pelvic exam and vaginal swab ever act as a cervical sweep and induce preterm labour or cause a late miscarriage?

No, pelvic exams are not associated with miscarriage or preterm labor.

I'm worried about my daughter who is a physician. Her 2nd pregnancy, 20 weeks, with increasing migraines. She had a cesarean last pregnancy 2 weeks early due to preeclampsia. She has gained 30 lbs from her previous 110 lb normal weight.

I just got my first depo shot 6 days ago so it hasn't had a full week to kick in but me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex 1 day ago, I was on like my 7th or 8th day of my period when I got the shot. I was wondering if it was safe to take plan B on the depo shot cause I just had a baby and I'm 16 and don't want to be pregnant again.

If a 56 year old woman, who is in excellent health, is pregnant, is her pregnancy automatically categorized as high risk based solely on her age?

Asked by Curious almost 9 years ago

Yes, this would certainly be considered a high risk pregnancy. As maternal age increases, the risk of complications exponentially rises. I would be very concerned for conditions such as gestational diabetes, hypertension and pre-eclampsia, abruption, placental insufficiency, intrauterine growth restriction. She would require very close surveillance throughout the pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester.

Hi, I am 8 weeks pregnant. I had an ultrasound last week with fetal heartbeat detected. My last pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Am I okay to fly for 3 hours next week?

Asked by Rachel almost 10 years ago

Airplane travel is safe during pregnancy and is not associated with miscarriage.

Hello. I am 20 weeks pregnant and had my mid pregnancy scanning recently. I was told that everything was fine except that the heart ct ratio is 0.53 - the normal should be 0.50. I was asked to come back after 2wks for monitoring. Should i worry?
